Shadee’s first encounter with fashion and business was at birth, she was born into a family were looking good and running a business was a priority, they were fashionable and business minded family. On her 6th birthday her parents bought her an outfit which she describes as “ my first love”... it was beautiful, stylish, the fabric was mind blowing and had great detailing “I now look back and remember how great I used to feel about myself when wearing that 2 piece .” She further says even though she loved the outfit she had the zeal to make it fit her better and change a few things about it.
We all know that it takes a lot to really identify and develop your passion , Shadee started drawing random items like cars, flowers and people as a child and everyone around her saw an artist in making, well Christiano Ronaldo grew up playing soccer and has built a career out of it, who would have thought there could be such a plot twist in shadee’s life. Among other interesting things she also mentioned that she used to have a unique fashion sense and people always “get it later”, it made her feel uncomfortable at first the way people would gazed at her which in turn made her feel like she didn't belong. This experience inspired the tagline of Shadee M “They will get it later”.
Shadee’s favorite activities include going out and shopping. Shadee enjoys the idea of having new clothes, to her having new clothes meant she needed to find new ideas on how to style her old clothes with her new clothes and enjoyed the activity. What made her sad was going out shopping and not finding what she had imagined, not finding clothes that were a perfect fit and always feeling like there was something she could change to make the item suit her body type and personality. She then shared that she loves standing out and now enjoys the jaw drop gaze people give her, she has learned to keep it moving and has accepted that this is what makes her unique.
Shadee began exploring business at the age of 13, her first business she collected music and burn them onto empty CDs and sold them to her peers, she then became a photographer and later DJ gigs and hiring out sound. She graduated at TUT with a National Diploma in Accounting, completing her studies made her feel like she can now focus on what she is really passionate about and not what her parents wished for her to be. She got a Job at a bank while working there she had a lot of side hustles like buying and selling imported clothes and cosmetics. She then built an online boutique with all her savings with the hope that she will gain it back and also had the help from some investors. She says “ We organized a fashion show to launch the business and after that night I was bankrupt and soon after that the business failed. She later decided to go solo. She quit her Job at the bank and let go of the e-commerce store and began her journey of building Shadee M using her pension fund.
On the 24th of April 2018 Shadee M was born , inspired by the journey of Shadee Nkhuna who is the founder and CEO of the Shadee M. “I wanted to put what I have always imagined to life” She further said she wanted to offer clients innovative and creative garments that speaks to their personalities. “Shadee M’s mission is to give clients an experience and a feel that's lifts their social ego and uplifts their status push... Fashion lovers enjoy standing out and care about their social status... Shadee M designs are constructed around giving their clients a look that feeds their desire to be exclusive, distinct and flamboyant.”
